Keep silence 并非在所有语境里都不存在，但在阅览室请人保持安静，keep quiet 更自然。这里 keep 后接描述状态的形容词，类似 keep calm、keep warm，因此把名词 silence 改为 quiet。Keep silent 也可以，不过语气更正式、偏书面。
Be quiet! 常是要求对方立即停止说话的直接命令。Keep quiet 更强调在一段时间内保持安静，或对某件事一直不说：Can you keep quiet until the film ends?
