وأول فرق يستحق الانتباه هو mass tourism. هذا هو اسم السياحة واسعة النطاق، لا massive tourism. تصف massive الحجم الضخم، بينما تدخل mass في تراكيب مثل mass tourism وmass media وmass production. وهناك فرق آخر بين السفر عمومًا، travel، ورحلة محددة؛ لذلك لا نستخدم a travel لوصف عطلة واحدة.

أخطاء شائعة

الصواب: Mass tourism has changed the coast of Turkey.
نستخدم mass قبل الاسم لوصف ما يشمل أعدادًا كبيرة. أما massive فتصف الضخامة: a massive hotel أو a massive increase in visitors.
Last year I went on an unforgettable travel to Japan.
الصواب: Last year I went on an unforgettable trip to Japan.
عندما تعني travel السفر بصفة عامة فهي غير معدودة: Travel broadens the mind. والرحلة المحددة هي a trip، أما الانتقال من مكان إلى آخر فهو a journey. تجد الفرق في تدريب travel, trip or journey.
Nowadays more people can afford to go to abroad.
الصواب: Nowadays more people can afford to go abroad.
تؤدي abroad وظيفة الظرف، مثل home في go home. لذلك لا تضف to أو in في go abroad وtravel abroad وstudy abroad. تدرّب في صفحة go abroad.

I think it can, but it depends on how people travel. If you go on a package holiday and stay in a resort, you barely meet local residents, so you don't really experience a different culture. But when people go off the beaten track, use local transport and try to speak a few words of the language, it definitely broadens their horizons. So it's more about the traveller than the destination.
