词典常把习语列作 speak one's mind，容易让人原样照抄。但 one's 只是物主形式的占位词，要随说话者变化：I spoke my mind、she spoke her mind。因此修改把 one's 换成 my。
Speak up 也可以表示发表意见，但更常是在请人说大声一点：Could you speak up, please? Speak your mind 则表示坦率说出想法，即使内容不太好听。反义表达是 hold your tongue，表示忍住不说、保持沉默。
