Shut up 不一定都在冒犯人。说自己时，可以轻松甚至带着玩笑：OK, I'll shut up and listen。谈到别人时，He never shuts up about his car 是说他没完没了地谈车，语气随意、带调侃，但不是当面命令人闭嘴。朋友之间的 Shut up! 有时还表示惊讶、不敢相信：Shut up! You got the job?
