स्वास्थ्य IELTS के कई प्रश्नों में आता है। Writing Task 2 में इलाज और रोकथाम पर सरकारी खर्च, वजन व आदतों के लिए व्यक्ति और सरकार की ज़िम्मेदारी, या सबके लिए मुफ़्त स्वास्थ्य-सेवा पर राय माँगी जा सकती है। Speaking Part 3 में चर्चा आगे बढ़ती है: लोग पिछली पीढ़ी से कम सक्रिय क्यों हैं और भविष्य में स्वास्थ्य का ध्यान कैसे रखेंगे?
इस विषय का एक जाल medicine है। देश में इलाज मुफ़्त होने की बात In my country, medicine is free लिखें तो पाठक दवाएँ मुफ़्त मिलने का अर्थ समझ सकता है। Medicine दवा तथा चिकित्सा के विज्ञान या अभ्यास के लिए आता है। इलाज उपलब्ध कराने वाली व्यवस्था healthcare है: free healthcare, the healthcare system। हिंदी में दवा “खाने” की बात अंग्रेज़ी में सामान्यतः take medicine होगी। डॉक्टर की पर्ची prescription है, recipe नहीं। नीचे 29 collocations, अनुवाद से होने वाली ग़लतियाँ और फ़ीडबैक का उदाहरण है।

सामान्य ग़लतियाँ
In my country, medicine is free for everyone.
सही रूप: In my country, healthcare is free for everyone.
Medicine दवा या चिकित्सा के क्षेत्र के लिए आता है, जैसे modern medicine। मुफ़्त इलाज की बात free healthcare से स्पष्ट होती है। इलाज लेते समय रोगी भुगतान नहीं करता, इस पर ज़ोर देना हो तो free at the point of use कहें।
I drink these pills twice a day.
सही रूप: I take these pills twice a day.
हिंदी और अन्य भाषाओं की दवा “खाने” या “पीने” वाली संरचना सीधे न उतारें। अंग्रेज़ी में दवा लेने का सामान्य मेल take medicine, take pills है। Drink तब कहें जब वास्तव में कोई तरल पीने की कार्रवाई बतानी हो।
The doctor gave me a recipe for antibiotics.
सही रूप: The doctor gave me a prescription for antibiotics.
Recipe खाना बनाने की विधि है। डॉक्टर की दवा वाली पर्ची prescription और दवा लिखने की क्रिया prescribe है।
Smoking can damage the health. She has a good health.
सही रूप: Smoking can damage your health. She is in good health.
Health अगणनीय है और सामान्य अर्थ में प्रायः बिना आर्टिकल आता है। किसी की हालत के लिए be in good health कहें। नुकसान के लिए damage your health या be bad for your health उपयोगी हैं।
LetsWords में ग़लती और उसका कारण
दूसरी भाषा का प्रयोग सीधे अंग्रेज़ी में उतारने पर drink pills या a recipe from the doctor सही लग सकता है। ऐसी ग़लती केवल अर्थ दोहराने से नहीं दिखती; प्रयोग लिखना पड़ता है।

Writing Task 2 में इस्तेमाल

In many countries, most of the health budget is spent on treating diseases rather than preventing them. Some people think governments should move this money towards prevention. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
मुख्य अनुच्छेद:
Shifting funds towards prevention would, in my view, make the whole system more sustainable. Many of the conditions that fill hospital wards today, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease, are closely linked to a sedentary lifestyle and poor eating habits. If governments ran public health campaigns about these risks and made it easier for people to take regular exercise, fewer citizens would suffer from a chronic illness in middle age. This, in turn, would shorten waiting lists and ease the strain on the healthcare system, freeing doctors to focus on patients who genuinely need complex treatment. Prevention, therefore, is not an alternative to treatment but the most realistic way to keep treatment affordable.
अनुच्छेद क्यों काम करता है। एक मुख्य विचार है: रोकथाम व्यवस्था पर दबाव घटा सकती है। वाक्य कारण और परिणाम आगे बढ़ाते हैं—कम सक्रिय जीवनशैली से बीमारी, प्रतीक्षा और डॉक्टरों पर दबाव तक। In turn और therefore यह संबंध दिखाते हैं। Collocations लंबी व्याख्या की जगह सटीक बात कहते हैं।
IELTS Writing band descriptors में band 7 के Lexical Resource के लिए शैली और collocations की समझ का उल्लेख है: An awareness of style and collocation is evident। यहाँ प्रचलित मेल उसी सटीकता में मदद करते हैं। केवल प्रभाव डालने के लिए दुर्लभ शब्द नहीं रखे गए।
Speaking में इस्तेमाल
Part 3 का प्रश्न: Should individuals or governments be mainly responsible for people’s health?
I’d say it’s a shared responsibility, but individuals carry most of it. Nobody can force you to take regular exercise or cut down on sugar. That said, the state sets the conditions: if healthy food costs twice as much as junk food, or you can’t see a doctor without waiting three weeks, willpower only goes so far. So governments should make the healthy choice the easy one.
I’d say, That said और only goes so far बातचीत के अनुकूल हैं। विषय के collocations take regular exercise, cut down on और see a doctor उन्हीं तालिकाओं से आए हैं जिन्हें निबंध के लिए पढ़ते हैं।
मुफ़्त अभ्यास

सूची से इस्तेमाल तक
