Lyrics হলো গানের কথা, অর্থাৎ যে শব্দগুলো গাওয়া হয়। সব ধরনের কবিতাকে lyrics বলা হয় না: ব্যক্তিগত অনুভূতি প্রকাশ করা কবিতা হলো lyric poetry, আর কাব্যিক আবহ বোঝাতে lyrical ব্যবহার হয়। একটি গান হলেও কথাগুলো বোঝাতে সাধারণত বহুবচন লাগে: the lyrics are beautiful.
