In front ofは人や物の前側にある位置です。In front of a building、in front of a person、in front of a screenと使います。人が見聞きする場でという意味もあり、speak in front of the class、argue in front of the kidsと言えます。

Beforeにも位置を表す用法はありますが、日常ではbefore lunchのような時間の意味が中心です。この入口の前という位置を明確に言うにはin front of the entranceが自然です。
In front ofは前側という関係で、The taxi is waiting in front of the hotel.が例です。道路のどちら側かまでは必ずしも限定しません。道を挟んで建物が向き合うことを明確にするなら、The pharmacy is opposite the bank.とします。
