In front of 表示在某人或某物前方、靠近其正面，例如 in front of a building、in front of a person、in front of a screen。也可以表示在别人看得见或听得见的场合：speak in front of the class、argue in front of the kids。

Before 看起来也像“在……之前”，但日常英语中它最常表示时间，例如 before lunch。要自然地说明汽车停在入口前的位置，这里用 in front of：in front of the entrance。
In front of 关注某物的前方位置：The taxi is waiting in front of the hotel。它本身并不保证两个地点在街道同侧。如果要明确说明两栋建筑隔街相对，用 opposite 更清楚：The pharmacy is opposite the bank。
