Hold 容易让人联想到把承诺“守住”，但英语表达兑现承诺用 keep。Hold promise 的意思不同，是显示前景、很有希望，例如 The new treatment holds promise。
Keep your word 意思接近，也表示说到做到。这里 word 要与 my、your、his 等搭配，不加冠词：He always keeps his word。表达这个意思时，kept word 或 kept the word 都不合适。
