वादा पकड़कर रखने की छवि से hold चुनना सहज लगता है। लेकिन निभाने का प्रचलित संयोजन keep a promise है। Hold promise अलग है: किसी बात में अच्छी संभावना होना। इसलिए यहाँ holds her promises को keeps her promises किया गया है।
Keep your word भी वादा निभाना है। इस मुहावरे में व्यक्ति के अनुसार my, your या his जैसे रूप आते हैं: He always keeps his word. केवल kept word या kept the word इस सामान्य वादा-निभाने वाले ढाँचे का विकल्प नहीं।
