As if 把一种情况与另一种情况比较，说明它给人的印象。在 look、sound、feel 和 seem 后面，它描述感觉或印象：It looks as if it's going to rain。如果比较明显不符合事实，as if 后常用过去时：He talks as if he knew everything，尽管实际上他并不是什么都知道。

修改前He talks about Paris like if he had lived there for years.
修改后He talks about Paris as if he had lived there for years.
学习者有时把表示比较的 like 和引出假设的 if 拼在一起，写成 like if。但这里表示“仿佛”的完整表达是 as if。口语中也可以只用 like：He talks like he lived there。在这个比较结构里，不把它写成 like if。
As though 意思相同：She looked as though she hadn't slept。单独作为回应的 As if! 则表示“不可能、想得美”：Tom thinks I'll lend him my car. As if! 它带有嘲讽和俚语色彩，不适合放进作文或求职面试。
