変更のポイント
修正前He talks about Paris like if he had lived there for years.
修正後He talks about Paris as if he had lived there for years.
比較のlikeと仮定のifを合わせたくなりますが、この文の「まるで〜のよう」はas ifで表します。会話ならHe talks like he lived there.のようにlikeだけで続けることもあります。ここでlike ifをひとまとまりの比較表現として使うのは不適切です。
As thoughも同じ意味で、She looked as though she hadn't slept.と言えます。単独のAs if!は「まさか」「そんなわけない」という皮肉な反応です。Tom thinks I'll lend him my car. As if!のように使い、論述や面接向きの文体ではありません。
