put up with + noun/-ing; can't put up with + something
- I don't know how she puts up with her noisy neighbours every night.
- We had to put up with delays at the airport for six hours.
- He won't put up with being spoken to like that.
修改原因
修改前I can't put it up with anymore.
修改后I can't put up with it anymore.
Put up with 由三部分构成,it、him、this 等代词放在整个表达后面:put up with it。Put it up 可以指把海报贴上墙或把架子装起来,其中代词在中间,但这个规则不能套用到 put up with。因此 put it up with 是错误顺序。
Put up with someone 表示忍受某人;put someone up 则表示让某人在家暂住,例如 My aunt put me up when I first moved to London。比较:I can't put up with my cousin 是“我受不了那位堂亲或表亲”;I can't put my cousin up 则是“我没法安排那位亲戚住下”。
动手练习
My sister talks on the phone all night long, and honestly, I can't ___ any more.
