Contact 和 remind 可以直接接人，因此容易把 follow up 也写成 follow up you。但 follow up 后的联系对象通常由 with 引出：follow up with you。跟进的事情或问题则用 on：follow up on the order。
不带 up 的 follow 可以表示跟随或按某事行事，如 follow the instructions、follow the news。Follow up 强调首次行动之后的下一步：I emailed them on Monday and followed up on Friday。
