Beforeだけでも文脈によって以前という意味を表せますが、I've seen this film before.のような過去の経験にも使います。このtell me beforeでは、何より前に知らせるのかが曖昧です。前もって知らせてほしい意図を明確にするためtell me in advanceにします。
早める時間は前に置き、book a table two days in advanceとします。出来事そのものを続けるならin advance of the meetingです。日常会話ならbefore the meetingとも言えます。
