IDC stands for I don't care. It's written in lower case in texts. The tone depends on the situation: idc what they think sounds confident, while idc as a reply to a friend's question or suggestion sounds cold. In a message to a colleague, write I don't mind or Either is fine; an abbreviation has no place in an essay, and in IELTS Speaking say the full phrase, and only where indifference really fits.

idc + what/if/about…; honestly idc; idc tbh
- idc what people say, i'm wearing my pink jacket to the party
- honestly idc if we're late, the concert never starts on time anyway
- idc about football, but i'll come for the snacks
What changed
First versionHi Ms Taylor, idc which day we meet, you choose.
RevisionHi Ms Taylor, I don't mind which day we meet, you choose.
The chat abbreviation idc doesn't belong in a message to Ms Taylor. But the full I don't care wouldn't work either. I don't care means “this doesn't interest me”, while I don't mind means “any option suits me”. When someone offers you a choice, you need the second one.
In a hurry, idc is easy to mix up with idk: idk where he is means you don't know where he is, while idc where he is means you don't care where he is. Only one letter is different, but the second one makes you sound hurt or cold.
Your turn
they can laugh at my hat all they want, i love it and ___ what they think

idc — You're confident and ignore the laughter, so it's idc: you don't care what they think. Idk would mean you don't know what they think, although their laughing makes that pretty clear.
Write to a friend about something you've decided to do despite what others think: name the decision and use idc.
i'm dyeing my hair blue next week, idc what my classmates think.
