RevisionDear Sir or Madam, I would like to book a twin room for myself and my friend.

An email to a hotel is formal, while bff is a word from chatting with friends, and in a booking it sounds unserious. The hotel doesn't need to know how close you are to the person you're travelling with, so the neutral my friend is enough.

Cambridge Dictionary

Out loud, BFF is spelled out letter by letter: B-F-F. For two friends, use the plural: They've been BFFs since primary school. Bff isn't used in letters, essays or IELTS Speaking; say my best friend or my closest friend instead.

Your turn

Show the answer

bff — Anna is like a sister to you and knows all your secrets, which is the closest kind of friendship, so bff fits. A crush is a romantic infatuation and doesn't go with like a sister.

Write a caption for a photo of you and your best friend. Say how many years you've been friends and what you're doing in the picture.

Me and my bff hiking in Wales, twelve years of friendship and she still walks faster than me!
