Bc is short for because. People use it in messages and on social media to give a quick reason; you may also see b/c. It's a purely written abbreviation: out loud, people say because.

RevisionWe cancelled the picnic bc of the rain.
Like because, bc introduces a whole clause: bc it was raining. Before a noun, you need bc of, just as you'd say because of the rain. So of has been added after bc.
In speech, because is often shortened to 'cause, and in informal British texting people write cos: I'm staying in tonight, cos I'm really tired. In a message to a teacher or colleague, and certainly in an IELTS essay, write because in full, and in Speaking, just say because.

bc — Your sore knee is the reason for skipping the gym, and bc introduces a reason. Tho means though: it would present the pain as something you skipped the gym in spite of, which makes no sense.
Write to a friend saying you can't make it to a get-together. Name the day and explain the reason with bc.
