Bet slang meaning: “deal”, not a wager

Bet is a quick deal or you're on: see you at six? — bet. But add one little word, and your agreement can sound like mockery: yeah, right.

In slang, bet means deal, OK, sounds good: a short yes to a suggestion or request. Friends use it in texts and out loud; it sounds relaxed and confident. Literally, a bet is a wager, but nobody is thinking about gambling here. In an email to a colleague or in Speaking, say sounds good or sure.

Bet meaning deal is a single word. Add I and you get a different expression: I bet means surely or no doubt, and as a reply to a request it can sound ironic, like yeah, right. So I was removed, and the reply became simple agreement.
